Phoenix, legend, trailblazer, icon, and leader were the most repeated words from the people at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos. The calendar marked September 3rd, and the people were here for a celebratory event, Lagos Canvas, curated by Mo Abudu. They came in excited at dusk and by the night's later hours, they had developed a renewed admiration for Lagos.

“Lagos is the land of opportunity, a land where anything can happen, you can be zero today and a hundred tomorrow. I love Lagos, I can never leave Lagos.” Timini Egbuson spoke about his pride in seeing Lagos in all its glory at the event. As for its curator, he said, “Mo Abudu is an idol and an icon, shoutout to her.”

With a guest list that included the Consul General of the United States, Will Stevens, and the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Lagos State, Mrs. Toke Benson Awoyinka, and several creative titans, Mo Abudu had a challenging task ahead of her.
